OK that was a question sent to me as a joke by a friend. But I have been asked why all the characters seem to be “white”. I dont like racial politics any more than I like sexual or orientation politics. As a rule I find politics to be distasteful and unworthy of my attention . But I feel that this may be one I have to address.

To start with, I am a New Zealander. That is the country of my birth, and while I do not live there I am proud to be a Kiwi. My background is a mixture of Maori and Scottish/English. My skin colour is a pinkish creme colour, my hair is brown and curls and my eyes are hazel.

Now that is out of the way lets get down to it.

WHY ARE THEY ALL WHITE?

The answer is simple. It works.

What do I mean? OK Its purely a technical thing. I find it easier to do contrast of shades and to highlight features on faces hands bodies etc if it is white. I have tried to have a darker skinned character (the catgirl assistant of Christine’s) who was to be one of the “Main Three” but working with that model was proving to difficult. I couldn’t put the time needed to have that one lit and shaded with the rest of the scene and maintain an output of comic at a speed I need.

So there you have it. they are white cos its easier to work with light and shade when I have a clear contrast.

If you look at coloured pictures you would also see that Christine is (what I am hoping is) creole. I am still working on the accent.

I love extras cos well they are easy. I have an extra in my runtime called “Reporter” cos that was her first role. A wardrobe change, a new hair a tweek of a butt and she was a background figure, a gungho ILE officer, a friendzoning human, and now a nurse. Yep and she is still in the runtime as “Reporter”

BloodBound is generally considered to be Not Safe For Work ™. I get that, but there are things I cant do or wont do on BloodBound that I will do elsewhere. Some of those reasons are simple. There are things I agree not to do or have portrayed as part of my agreement with my service provider. Others are things that I do not feel are needed for the storyline. However there is NSFW BloodBound out there! Some are fan arts with very very explicit subjet matter (yummmy) and well There is Tumblr. Oh yes Tumblr I love it.

Coming up with new stories for Blood Bound can be very challenging for me, I don’t want to copy other story-lines to much, (Its unavoidable that there will be some) I don’t want to repeat old arcs, and I don’t want to alienate my fans.

Sometimes its an entire arc that gets written then thrown away, others its an element of a story that I remove.

The second one I can give a pretty good example. Early storyline had Sorrows enter a house with a special enforcement unit to remove some witnesses to Sassy. Her orders were to kill the entire household. In the house was a child. Can you see my the dilemma? I went out to get help with this, cos I was not sure what to do. After all some of my fans are parents, and having a child killed in cold blood like that may have bad reactions for them. (I have step sons now so I can relate) But also there is the fact that humans are seen as livestock for the inhumans. So in the end, after talking with fans, the girl survived, and Sorrows even made sure the human cops were called. Oh and that also gave me an opening for a story later on, where I could have Christine take over the local ILE branch and Anubis can uh… Die…

There have been a few other little things like that, but that is the most blatent one. As for totally rejected stories? welllllllll…….

A civil war between the Incubi and the Succubi (the incubi being the subjugated species) The problem was not so much the war it self but the conclusion. Any way I finish it it wasnt going to be good. The Incubi win, I am a male supremacist. The Succubi win, I am overly politically correct. Neither side win, I am ball-less. So while it would have been an interesting look into the incubi succubi culture, it was a no win story for me as a storyteller.

Another failed story again was a succubi story, where in an attempt to “Fix” Sassy from her interspecies love, her mother organised a “Corrective rape” This story would have been hard for me to do, and I feel hard for people to read. It would have been an interesting incite to the xenophobia of the cubis but I think having mother organise the rape of her daughter may have been to much for my readers, and to much for me to make realistic or indeed plausible (Thats not to say that that doesn’t happen in real life, yes it does happen) So that story was also placed in the Too hot to touch pile *I am such a coward*

I do have a succubi storyline thats on the back burner (not decided if to go ahead with it or not) about the trials. A succubi does not have right to life untill they pass (survive) trials. Survival Endurance and Combat. I do like it, but dont know if I can do it justice without it looking like a fap story. Sorry Girls and Guys wanting to see naked Succubi Fights to the death….. I just cant make up my mind.

Wow all those examples are Cubi storys! What about other storys? any of them rejected? Well yeah of course, one Anubis story that was going to be done was his relationship with the DreamWalker. *remember her?* and why it is became so sour. I was going to turn William and Samual into lovers, but decided to keep them asexual. In fact having them asexual was a choice I made because my own thoughts on long term celibacy makes people go nasty.

One story that hasnt been done yet.. is the story of our favorite Vampire Preacher. Malachi. The girls love him, and it is time perhaps for me to look at his life.

Well I have rambled and this little post has little coherance so I will publish this and let you get on with your lives.

Oh and have a picture….

(Do you really want this sort of thing in BloodBound?)

Species Information

Humanoid inhuman demon

Species: Homosapian Demonicus Eros

Lifespan: 1200 years

General Information

Succubi are a humanoid female species of demon noted for their horns and tail, as well as their attractive figure. These demons are also known for their high libido.

Arcane

Succubi like all demons have a genetic trait allowing them to make use of arcane abilities. This allows for the use of N space, to alter their appearance and for those with training, to make use of N space portals for near instant transportation. Ritual use of these and other arcane abilities also form part of their religion.

Biology

The skeletal structure of succubi follow the hydrostatic standard of most vertebrates, supporting the weight and musculature though the bones themselves are very thin, an advantage in flight. The wings structure blend into the back and fade into what is believed to be N space, meaning that they pass into the skin of the back and apparently disappear completely, only to be exposed when flight is needed. The tail of the succubi is prehensile and able to grip onto objects or their prey. The horns do not appear to have any practical use, but may be early evolutionary baggage. However, the horns may serve as a cultural symbol of status or sexual maturity. Scent glands in the wrists of the succubi emit a pheromone that causes arousal in humans and some inhumans and the succubi able to “blow kisses” to direct the pheromones towards intended targets. Succubi are not solely dependent on the spirit or life-forces of their prey for sustenance and can and do eat normal foods and drink. However they do require life force for existence. This leads to the main interactions between them and humans. This has led to many succubi working in human sex industry where they are able to make a living, and feed at the same time. Of course in such things, the death of the human is avoided.

Society

Succubi culture on the whole is reminiscent of Imperial cultures with classes of High and Low born demons depending on the family, and of the mancipation of their brother species, the Incubi. Status and rank feature highly as well as devotion towards the patron deity known as Nyx. The relationship between succubi and incubi is defiantly not as equals, Incubi do indeed hunt etc, but in regards to their relationship with Succubi, they are submissive . Succubi may marry them, but it is a female dominated relationship. Similar to a reversal of the “1950′s” housewife taken to extremes. Succubi see incubi as genetic material donors, and laborers. Incubi see succubi as goddesses (avatars of Nyx?) and will do anything for that pleasure of a succubi’s sexual attention. Its not unusual for a Succubus to have a husband and serveral incubi lovers.

Religion

Most succubi revere Nyx as their patron goddess and invoke her name in many dealings they have with each other. Organized temples exist in most centers where succubi live, and many high born succubi have spent time serving as priestesses or acolytes. This places the religion as a powerful organization in their culture. Rituals invoked during worship often involve the use of arcane abilities, and or sexual activities.

Views on other races.

Many highborn succubi consider their species to be the most pure of demon species, and consider most other species of demons and inhumans to be second class, and that humans are merely a food source. Younger succubi can take this to extremes and exhibit racist behavior.

Blood bound is basically a world much like modern western society here. The countries are about the same (I have never put much thought into the whole geopolitical makeup if this world) with accents and traditions very similar. One thing I have changed is religion. Yeah I know the whole religion thing, you can all stop groaning now. In this world religion is still a very powerful force, and I have based different religions on some religions from our own reality. But none of them exactly the same. Humans generally follow more closely to the Judeo Islamic Christian religion, where the deity is Adam (after the first man in the bible) So there is no Jesus and so on, but there is still organised religion, on of which follows the Catholic/Apostolic/Anglican style.

I have taken the vampire religion from Jewish mysticism with Lilith, and even incorporated some of the ideas from her myth into my own (relationship with Adam etc) but then took it on a different slant. In-staid of being rejected before consummation, Adam cheated on her with another Human Immortal (Eve). Oh the teenage drama!

The Succubus/Incubus religion I find the most interesting, because I am making it up as I go along. Originaly the Immortal that the religion was based around was called Veena, but it was too close to Veela (and since they were used by Harry Potter stories) I looked around for another name. So I went with a more darker sounding name…. I liked it, and so did the Greeks. Nyx. Ahhhhh its a pretty name. This religion of course is very sexual, so I have looked at more of the earth based religions, Paganism, witchcraft etc and picked out of them what a sex demon would like…..and ramped them up. OK theres not been much about their belief system shown, but there will be.

There are other belief systems out there….. and of course Christine and Sassy are athiests. so there’s even that.

Out side of that there are other religions, If I need to expand on them in the story I will.

If not no loss really

Its weird seeing them with lots of lines all over them aint it. But I find it easier to do tweeks this way rather than texturemapped (and when I post images like this, makes me look more professional)

Soon Mea and I will get this site looking the way it should. Shes the best at doing this website stuff

When I plan arcs it often means that as I do the work on the arc I am on, I have to start designing new characters for use in the new arc, This often takes a while, so I have to work out ideas for them a long time in advance, before you get to see them fleshed out as it were

A background or short run character does not have the same amount of attention put into them as say, Jinni or Sassy, but still there is a lot of tweeking done, even during her or his run in the comic, just to try to get it right

Here is some WIPs of a short run character that will be making her self known in an upcoming story

Enjoy
